Deco Anakyklosis: Μαΐου 2013

The bulding was once a dyeworks in the nineteenth century, a carpenter’s workshop in the fifties and today a residential loft of an architect in Florence, Italy. Alessandro Capellaro and his partner Sabrina Bignami of b-arch architecture designed it using three hundred ballot boxes!

He designed the space, with the intention of creating a lot of free space. But wanted to preserve the memory of the old carpenter’s workshop by finding some fun and original way through the distinctive furniture.

Three hundred wooden boxes, authentic ballot boxes from the 1940s, are used as creative boiserie in the dining room, a mobile counter in the kitchen, as a cupboard, couch, desk, and even bed.

The contrast of the colorful design pieces that architect collected over time, or of the vintage lamps of his own production, paintings and vases with the old wood is really interesting.
